Focus On The Now

Let's be honest. Sometimes our thoughts can take over and run away with our mind. As we begin the process of heading into a new week, the thought of staying in the now and staying in the present popped up. Maybe the day isn’t starting off quite as planned or the future seems overwhelming. There may have been setbacks or challenges of some sort over the weekend, or you might have a million things to accomplish this week! We’ve all been there. Consider this an invitation to let go of what is done or what you can’t control and focus on the moment you are in. It's true that you can absolutely learn from mistakes. It’s true that you can’t control the future, but sometimes it can be helpful to simply focus on the step you're taking right now, instead of what's already happened or what might be.

One of the great thing about our fitness retreats is that our guests are able to get out of their environment so they can be present and focus on the now. We know that’s not possible for everyone so thinking of it in a practical way is important for a broader audience. Every single day is an opportunity to do your best, even if your best is just one tiny thing (like drinking water, running that one really important errand or just simply being kind to yourself). And that's what mindfulness is, [practicing a non-judgmental state of heightened awareness of one’s thoughts, emotions, or experiences on a moment-to-moment basis.] It is seeing the present moment as it is, and knowing that is where you have the power to take action.

Reflection Questions:

How are you growing your mindfulness? Or how do you want to grow your mindfulness this week?

How can you focus on the NOW as you’re reading this post?

What action step/s help you stay in the present?

What is most important to you this week?
